Scotland’s leading directors have been shortlisted for the IoD Director of the Year Awards, which celebrate individuals’ business accomplishments in 2017. PBN Member Cara Mackay of Gillies & Mackay has been successful in securing a shortlisting for Tayside Regional Director of the Year.

Announced today, from over 150 nominations, a shortlist of 37 Scottish business leaders will go through to the final stages, competing for awards across nine key director categories and five regional categories.

The ceremony will take place at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow on Thursday 22nd March 2018.

The variety of categories represent the diverse business landscape in Scotland, with awards for large businesses, SMEs, charities and the public sector. There will also be recognition for creativity and innovation in the workplace as well as, for the first time, a family business category.

David Watt, Executive Director of the Institute of Directors in Scotland, said: “The Director of the Year Awards are an excellent opportunity to honour those at the top of Scotland’s businesses. But these women and men don’t just run businesses.  They are leaders, and their skills are vital to building Scotland’s future, particularly during economic and political uncertainty.  These leaders are at the top of their game, and have much to share, not only within the confines of their business or sector, but also to society as a whole.  The lessons they have learned along the way can contribute to finding solutions to wider social issues.

“This year we have introduced the category ‘Family Business’,  which celebrates those who have responded to the specific challenges that face directors in well-established family firms, and who have contributed to the success of the diverse, dynamic and innovative family business sector in Scotland.

“We have 37 business leaders up for awards this year, representing the true breadth of industries and sectors we have in Scotland. “
