The Angus Hotel has become the latest Perthshire business to be awarded WorldHost Recognised Business Status, a globally recognised customer service training programme. The training scheme is being supported by Perth & Kinross Council who are working with Skills Development Scotland to offer funding to local SME businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector who wish to join an elite group of organisations who are recognised for practicing exceptional customer service.
WorldHost is a world-class customer service training programme that has been used to train over 160,000 people in the UK and over a million people worldwide, including thousands of volunteers from the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. In total, 15 members of customer-facing staff from The Angus Hotel completed WorldHost training, which helps teach the importance of delivering excellent customer service, meeting the requirement for at least 50% of an organisation’s team to have completed any of the training programmes.
This is a great achievement from the Blairgowrie-based hotel and another success to add to their collection, after receiving a Bronze level grading from The Green Tourism Business Scheme earlier this year. Murray Scott, Managing Director of The Angus Hotel, said:
“Our customers are at the heart of what we do and we believe that exceeding customer expectations is the key to delivering an unforgettable visit to The Angus Hotel. The WorldHost Principles of Customer Service training programme has enabled us to enhance our existing skills and become even better equipped to offer outstanding customer service to our visitors. I am incredibly proud to be recognised as a WorldHost Recognised Business and it is a great achievement for our team.”
Perth & Kinross Council are pursuing WorldHost Recognised Destination Status as part of the WorldHost Regional Destination Initiative. In partnership with Perthshire Tourism Partnership, they hope Perth City can achieve WorldHost Recognised Destination status by 2016.
Suzanne Cumiskey, Chair of the Perth WorldHost Steering Group and Business Development Projects Officer at Perth & Kinross Council said:
“I would like to offer my congratulations to The Angus Hotel for completing the training scheme. We’re currently working with the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK – Scotland to raise the profile of Perthshire, specifically among coach operators nationally and internationally, and The Angus Hotel are really popular with group travel so it is great to see them take up the opportunity to develop their customer service offering through world-renowned training.
“We’re hoping to achieve Coach Friendly Status in Perth & Kinross and with more businesses like The Angus Hotel achieving the WorldHost accolade we’re able to really boost the profile of Perthshire amongst the travel trade industry. I would encourage any local companies looking to complete the training programme to get in touch.”
